The following two projects are closely linked, inspired by the same vision of the future of Greater Paris. The first is a new metro, which will finally offer an alternative to the car for many. The second is a new forest, created from scratch and serving as a green lung for Île-de-France. These two concepts are now dovetailing, with the first trees planted in November 2021 on Société du Grand Paris land in the heart of the Pierrelaye-Bessancourt forest, in the Val-d Oise. Although still very young, these field maple, service, lime and hairy oak trees are now growing here as part of the measures to offset work on the Grand Paris Express. This is a good illustration of Société du Grand Paris s commitment to build the new metro while conserving biodiversity, based on a three-pronged approach: avoid, reduce and offset the impact of the work on the natural environment.
